Officials from Lancashire Constabulary had been referred to as to a farm within the Moor Lane space approximately 4.25pm on Tuesday following a record of a major accident.
It was reported a Polaris Ranger pulling a trailer had fallen into a river after a bridge collapsed.
Eleven other people were within the car and trailer on the time of the incident, police said.

Highway closures are in place and expected to proceed for some time.
Police stated an investigation into the circumstances around the incident is underway and the Well Being and Protection Govt has been informed.
Detective inspector Kirsty Wyatt, of Lancashire Constabulary, stated: “My feelings are a great deal with all those serious about what is an excessively unhappy and tragic incident.
“One man has sadly died and a number of individuals have suffered severe accidents.
“At this time we believe the vehicle was pulling the trailer, containing a host of people, while a bridge gave way. The Ones people had been then thrown from the car and trailer.
“Our investigation is at very early ranges and enquiries are ongoing to determine what happened.”
